Delete Account & Data Deletion Policy

1. Purpose
This Delete Account & Data Deletion Policy explains how Customers and Helpers may request deletion of their Helpzy account and how Helpzy manages personal information after such requests. This Policy should be read together with the Helpzy Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
2. Requesting Account Deletion
Customers and Helpers may request deletion of their Helpzy account at any time.
Account deletion may be requested by:
- using the "Delete My Account" feature available within the Platform (when available);
- contacting Helpzy Support;
- sending a request to: privacy@myhelpzy.com
Helpzy may request identity verification before processing any deletion request.
3. Verification
To protect user privacy and prevent unauthorized account deletion, Helpzy may request information necessary to verify the identity of the person making the request.
Deletion requests may be denied if identity cannot be reasonably verified.
4. Immediate Effects
Once an account deletion request has been approved:
- access to the Platform will be disabled;
- the User will no longer be able to log in;
- active sessions may be terminated;
- future bookings may be canceled when appropriate.
Account deletion is permanent and generally cannot be reversed.
5. Active Bookings
Accounts with active bookings may not be immediately deleted.
Helpzy may delay deletion until:
- scheduled services have been completed;
- refunds have been processed;
- pending payments have been resolved;
- disputes have been concluded.
6. Information Deleted
Subject to applicable law, Helpzy will delete or permanently anonymize personal information including:
- name;
- email address;
- telephone number;
- profile information;
- photographs associated solely with the account;
- marketing preferences;
- saved addresses;
- non-essential account information.
7. Information That May Be Retained
Certain information may be retained after account deletion when required or permitted by law or for legitimate business purposes.
This may include:
- payment records;
- invoices;
- tax records;
- dispute records;
- fraud investigation records;
- security logs;
- audit logs;
- legal correspondence;
- records required to comply with court orders or governmental requests.
Such information will only be retained for the period necessary to satisfy those obligations.
8. Stripe Payment Information
Helpzy does not store complete payment card information.
Payment information is securely managed by Stripe.
Deletion of a Helpzy account does not automatically delete payment information maintained by Stripe.
Users should consult Stripe's Privacy Policy for additional information regarding payment data.
9. Backup Systems
Deleted information may temporarily remain within secure backup systems.
Backup copies are maintained solely for:
- disaster recovery;
- business continuity;
- system restoration.
Backup data is automatically removed according to Helpzy's backup retention schedule and is not used for normal business operations.
10. Fraud Prevention
Helpzy may retain limited information necessary to:
- prevent fraud;
- prevent duplicate fraudulent registrations;
- investigate abuse;
- comply with legal obligations;
- protect Customers, Helpers, and the Platform.
Such information will be retained only to the extent reasonably necessary.
11. Legal Obligations
Helpzy may retain information where required to comply with:
- federal law;
- state law;
- tax regulations;
- accounting requirements;
- law enforcement requests;
- judicial orders;
- regulatory investigations.
Nothing in this Policy requires Helpzy to delete information that must legally be retained.
12. Processing Time
Helpzy will process verified deletion requests within a reasonable period after identity verification has been completed.
Processing times may vary depending on:
- pending bookings;
- payment processing;
- legal obligations;
- technical requirements.
13. Reopening an Account
Once an account has been permanently deleted, it generally cannot be restored. Users wishing to use Helpzy again must create a new account and complete any applicable verification requirements.
14. Fraudulent Requests
Helpzy reserves the right to refuse or delay deletion requests that:
- appear fraudulent;
- are submitted by unauthorized persons;
- interfere with active investigations;
- violate applicable law.
15. Changes to this Policy
Helpzy may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be published on the Platform and become effective on the date indicated by the "Last Updated" notice.
